The 2008 Olympic Games open with a burst of fireworks above the Bird's Nest stadium.
Around 80 world leaders, including U.S. President George W. Bush joined 91,000 spectators on Friday (August 8) for the opening show. The global television audience for the event is being put at more than one billion viewers. China's President Hu Jintao said "the historic moment we have long awaited is arriving."
